What do you mean by Neurodiversity?
Neurodiversity is a word that describes the fact that humans naturally have a very wide range of neurological and cognitive functioning. In any given society there is a dominant neurotype, and a variety of folks who fall outside of that dominant way of being who we refer to as neurodivergent. Neurodivergent individuals include those who are autistic or have ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, DCD, Tourette Syndrome, among others. Studies show that globally between 10%-20% of the overall population is neurodivergent.

What is the difference between what you do and traditional therapy?
The occupation-based coaching model that we use is more concerned with what your goals are for the future and working with you to develop strategies to get there than traditional talk therapy. Therapy is an incredibly useful and worthwhile tool to examine our past and our present and develop an understanding of ourselves and the tools to manage and overcome the challenges that result. While we offer tools and guidance for dealing with barriers and obstacles related to executive functioning difficulties, these tools are forward-focused, as we seek to develop strategies to help you achieve your goals.
-
Do we meet in person or online?
All coaching sessions will take place over a live, secure video conference platform similar to Zoom.
-
Is it confidential?
Our work together is confidential. There are certain circumstances in which I am legally obligated to make a report to relevant state agencies if I have reason to believe a child is being abused or neglected.
-
Do I need a diagnosis?
While a diagnosis can be helpful in fully understanding ourselves and our needs, we understand that the process of getting a diagnosis can be difficult, costly, and not accessible to everyone. We can work with you to see if our services are a good fit for you. Contact us to find out more.
-
Do you accept insurance?
At this time we do not accept any insurance.
-
How long are sessions?
Initial evaluation and goal-setting sessions may last up to two hours. Ongoing coaching sessions are 50 minutes each.
-
Is there "homework?"
The coaching model requires work outside of our one-on-one meetings to meet the goals that you identify. There may be tracking sheets or other worksheets between coaching sessions that are helpful in monitoring progress and developing successful strategies to achieve your goals.
